I wish to express my gratitude to God for all the good that has come to me through Christian Science.

Many years ago I was living in a small country village about one hundred miles from Durban. A woman whom I had known for about eighteen months, and who was always very kind to me, one Sunday asked me to have dinner at her home. I knew she was a Christian Scientist, but this at the time meant nothing to me.

For many months I had been unhappy and depressed because I had suffered from poor health for a number of years. After dinner I asked this woman to tell me something about Christian Science, but not because I was interested or expected to get any help from it, for it never occurred to me that religion could heal me of my ailments and my unhappy state of mind. At the time I thought I was merely asking out of curiosity, but afterwards I realized I had actually received an answer to my prayers to God for help in my extremity. What my friend told me was so wonderful that this great truth burst on my hungry and darkened consciousness like a bright light. She talked to me about Christian Science from two to five o'clock, and when I left her home I felt as though I were walking on air. I knew without any doubt that I had been healed of acute indigestion of three years' standing.
