One of the most important duties of this office is to guard the legal rights of Christian Scientists against restrictions by public authorities. In this work we do not interfere in state affairs, but we take every precaution to see that the state does not interfere with our religious freedom.

Although several proposed laws would have restricted the rights of Christian Scientists if they were enacted, all were either successfully opposed or died without any affirmative action on the part of their authors. We were able to amend several bills which have now become law.
