RABBONI!

Could we call him Master, had he said,
As he turned to the living from the dead,
"Why have ye called me from afar?
He has gone, his life is done"?

Our Master said, "Lazarus, come forth!"

Could we call him Master, had he said,
As he turned aside from human fears,
"What though it storm, disturb me not,
O ye of little faith"?

Our Master said, "Be not afraid."

Could we call him Master, had he said,
With hate and fear within his heart,
"Ye shall be judged for this foul deed;
Let me down from this shameful cross"?

Our Master said, "Father, forgive."

Rabboni! Master!
Thou art he whose love has opened wide
The door of Life, eternity,
Where all in Truth abide.

Our Master says, "Lo, I am with you alway."
