Church Dedications
Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.
The Columbus Enquirer
Columbus, Georgia (First Church).
Members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Columbus, celebrated the end of church indebtedness at services on Sunday, December 29, 1946. A brief history of the church, showing its development from 1905, was read.
The church had its inception here in 1905 when a group met in a private home to organize a Christian Science Society. Meetings were held in this home for several months, and the group increased. For several years services were held in various business buildings, but in 1917 a building fund was begun with the purchase of war savings stamps.
