"Keep the door of my lips"

MAUDE DE VERSE NEWTON

Oh , let me keep a faithful watch
Upon my lips today
And bear true testimony
In everything I say.

Let me not add by word of mine
A burden to the heart
That strives with honest hope to gain
And hold the better part.

And I would voice God's constant truth
With each unfolding hour.
That all who walk with me shall know
His all-protecting power.
