My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science has always meant very much to me, not only because the healing was instantaneous, but because it started me studying this wonderful religion. I was completely healed of a weak back, which was considered hereditary and which had bothered me since earliest childhood. My parents had taken me to many physicians and I received massages and special exercises, but all to no avail. Later, when I married, I was hardly ever without the trouble.

Then a former neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, recommended that I go to a Christian Science lecture. Because I had never heard of this religion before, I asked her many questions, and finally in my desperation told her I would try anything.

The lecturer's absolute statements and his readings from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to the effect that God creates man in His own image and likeness, and that man is therefore perfect, made a big change in my thinking. While listening I started reasoning: If man is the perfect image of God, what is this pain? God is without pain, so I as His likeness must be without pain too.
