Gratitude for what Christian Science...

Gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for many others has prompted me to write this testimony.

When I was a young man of nineteen I was working at a logging camp in Colorado. One of the men for whom I was working had been a sufferer from some form of rheumatism for many years, having spent the greater part of his time in the best hospitals in the United States. He was finally told that nothing more could be done for him, and was sent back to the camp to die.

At regular intervals an auditor from a distant town came out to take care of the books. On one of these trips he told the sufferer that in the town where he lived there was a man who called himself a Christian Scientist, and who had been responsible for some remarkable healings; that he himself knew of a case of cancer which he had healed. He asked permission to bring him out to the camp. The word "Christian" had antagonized the logger so that at first he would have nothing to do with the Scientist, but the pain grew so severe that at last he consented to see him. The Christian Scientist came out and stayed two days. When he left, the logger was much better, and in a few weeks he was out in the woods working with the other men.
