For many years I have been reading the testimonies in our periodicals. Often they have encouraged and spurred me on to renewed efforts to overcome a difficulty. Many are the proofs I have had of God's care, evidenced in healings, protection, guidance in business deals, and the finding of employment.

One outstanding proof of protection occurred during the hurricane of September, 1944. My husband and I had been living on our houseboat all summer, and were aboard throughout the storm. The boat is very old, and it did not seem possible that it could survive the pounding, wrenching, and buffeting it took. Boats loosed from their moorings or dragging their anchors passed us and smashed into other boats, or landed up on the beach.

I knew that man is safe in God's ever-presence, however, and that nothing but good can touch him. Club members and friends were amazed to see us serenely riding at anchor in the morning, none the worse for our experience. My husband is not a Christian Scientist, but readily admits that we were divinely protected.
