The Morning Star
Give
me, O God, one star-clear thought
To hold within my heart today,
And measure all activity
By its clear ray.
Give me, O God, the constancy
To hold in use this thought supreme
And let no mist of earth becloud,
Nor mortal dream.
Give me, O God, the loveliness
To let this thought illume my being
Until the morning star of hope
Brings all men seeing.
