In May, 1900, I first heard of...
In May, 1900, I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I had been in bed for fifteen months with nervous prostration and indigestion. Five doctors had told me that they had done all that they could for me.
One day my husband spoke of my sickness to a woman, who sent some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel for him to read to me; she told him I could be healed in Christian Science. After hearing the testimonies read I decided to have treatment, and a practitioner was sent for. She talked to me about God and His willingness to heal me, for it was not His will that I should lie there helpless. This gave me hope, and after having some more treatments and reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I regained my strength and arose and walked, listening for His voice to guide me.
In seven weeks I took a long trip to Nova Scotia, after which I returned to my home and took care of a large family. For twenty years I have never spent a day in bed. It was a great joy to join The Mother Church in 1904 and also a branch church, and to begin to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly daily with all the other literature established by our beloved Leader.
