"No fear in love"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Bobbie , who attended a Christian Science Sunday School and loved it, was not so happy in day school. He told his mother one day that he was afraid, because his teacher was always "going for him" for seemingly no reason whatever. His mother asked if he was sure that he did not worry or annoy the teacher in any way, and Bobbie said truthfully that he could not think of anything he did which would make her so cross.

Mother always read to Bobbie from the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly every morning before he went to school. She knew that the Bible stories and the simple truths of Christian Science which he heard her read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, would help him if he thought of them during the day, especially if he was worried or troubled in any way. So she reminded him of the verse in the Bible (I John 4:18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear."

"It does not matter how much another person seems to hate us or may try to harm us," she told him. "If we are reflecting Love, we have nothing to fear. Good alone is true and real, and fills all space, and is ever present; therefore there can be no room for hate."
