One World
"I and
my Father ... one." So Jesus said,
And in that saying voiced the basic law
Of perfect oneness. Law is never dead.
Surely that truth, which Jesus early saw,
Is ours today. Not by uniting men
Each to the other, parting group with group,
Can lasting peace be proved on earth again;
For humankind will ever be the dupe
Of self-persuasion, shouldering for place.
No, there are wiser ways. For if as sons
One with the Father, we seek Truth's one face,
Proving in secret that God's will is done,
Peace will be ours. And standing there we'll find
We are all brothers in one common Mind.
