With great joy and a deep sense...

With great joy and a deep sense of gratitude I wish to tell of the many blessings which I have received through the understanding of God that Christian Science has revealed to me.

Suddenly, and from no apparent cause, a growth appeared on the first joint of my little finger. When it increased in size I bandaged the finger, not only to cover it but also to protect it, because at the slightest knock it bled profusely. A statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 418), "Speak the truth to every form of error," proved very comforting to me in working on this problem. Several months elapsed, however, without any visible improvement.

One afternoon, when leaving my work and hurrying to catch a train, I accidentally knocked the finger. The bleeding was so profuse that I was obliged to slip into a chemist's shop to procure a bandage. Seeing my predicament, the chemist offered to bandage the finger. Thinking to save time, I accepted his offer. He informed me that I should not delay in consulting a doctor, that he believed an operation to be urgent, and he said that even so, I should have a misshapen finger.
