The Individual Peace Table

Many times we hear it said that we need to plan for the peace to come, and such constructive planning is commendable. Christian Science, however, teaches us to go farther, and to consider the Father's perfect plan, in which His law is operating here and everywhere. In the completeness of infinite Mind, plan and fulfillment are one.

Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come," and Mary Baker Eddy, on page 16 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has interpreted this to mean, "Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present." Peace is an essential characteristic of even the smallest concept of the kingdom of heaven, so that we may well pray the prayer of divine knowing and affirm, "The peace of Thy kingdom is come, Thou (divine Truth, Life, and Love) art ever present."

To declare the presence of peace in the midst of a world conflict requires spiritual insight and the courage of a conviction of Truth. This conviction is strengthened when we recall the metaphysical fact that each material belief hints the existence of a spiritual fact. A lie is always a misstatement of truth and suggests the existence of truth. Thus the lie called a world-wide war is a misstatement of the fact of universal peace. The true and the false cannot dwell together, and therefore it becomes our duty as metaphysicians to substitute the true for the false in our thinking.
