Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

On September 17, 1944, the Youth Fellowship Group of Colesville Methodist Church, Colesville, Maryland, was addressed by this Committee. After the meeting the minister said that he noticed the King James Version of the Bible was mentioned several times, and wanted to know if we were not allowed to use other versions. He was told that we use the King James Version in our church services but that there is no rule prohibiting the use of other versions in our study of the Bible.

The fruitage from the religious broadcasts has been gratifying. One Christian Scientist wrote: "The broadcast today brought spiritual light, resulting in a healing." An instantaneous healing of extreme pain was reported.

One of our broadcasters, who had to drive many miles to the radio station, picked up two boys who were hitchhiking from Massachusetts. They had not had food for twelve hours. When the station was reached, each boy was given a dollar for food, directed to a restaurant which had a radio, given a copy of The Christian Science Monitor, and told that a program would be given in a few minutes which it was hoped they would hear. The subject was "Sharing." After the broadcast an envelope was found on the front seat of the car with a dollar enclosed, and penciled in irregular letters was the following: "Dear Friend, We heard you, and had a nice lunch. So we are sharing with you. Thanks a Million."
