In partial payment of my great debt of gratitude to God for giving our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the revelation of Christian Science, which is blessing all who study it and put it into practice, I submit this testimony.

This Science has taught me to look at life from a point of view exactly the opposite of that which I had before I learned something of it. This different outlook is due to the knowledge gained in Science that man is made in the image and likeness of God, as the Scriptures state, and that this likeness is not material, but spiritual, the reflection of the Mind which is God.

My first healing was instantaneous, and came about in this way. I had spoken to my son about "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, telling him that it taught anybody who studied it to heal himself and others. A few days after this a heavy double-spring mattress which we were carrying, slipped out of our hands and fell on one of my insteps. I was moaning with pain, and my son said to me, "Oh, Mother, couldn't you try Christian Science?" I replied, "Well, I can try; but I know so little about it." At this time I had read only two or three chapters in Science and Health. Then I thought of the words on page 14, "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." The next moment I was perfectly well, and so filled with joy at the simplicity of the healing that I started to laugh.
