The Psalmist sang (Ps. 107:8), "Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" It is my earnest endeavor that my daily life shall so praise Him.

I had had a religious upbringing in an orthodox church. God's ever-presence and omnipotence were stressed, but at the same time there seemed to be another presence and power accepted and expressed in discord, disaster, and disease. This assertion and denial of God's all-power bothered me.

Then I found a neighbor, a student of Christian Science, who lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading the Preface and a few pages of the chapter on Prayer, I knew I had found the answers to all my questions and doubts. My consecrated study of the Bible in the light of this new-found Science was a joyous one, because I remembered Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p. 390), "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony."
