One Simple Prayer
Oh,
I have learned the joy it is to walk
With Love divine and let the dear Christ talk;
To listen, ere I take my outlined way,
And know Mind leads me each unfolding day.
I know at last that to obedient be
When human will would hide Thy good from me
Brings joy untold, for listening to Thy voice,
In paths of peace I follow and rejoice.
Oh, may I keep a childlike trust in Thee,
In purer faith and steadfast love to see
That every claim of pain or doubt or fear
Falls off, to show Thy healing presence here.
The futile gains that self and sense have planned
May fail, but reaching for Thine outstretched hand
I find that Love divine, awaiting there,
Pours forth abundance for one simple prayer.
