"Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might" (Jer. 9:23).

The world now bristles with possible conflicts of power. What is to be our part in such a world? We are agreed that we cannot retreat from world responsibility. But some things we have learned may be crystallized into a proverb: "Whom the Gods would destroy they first make mad"—with power.
