It is with sincere gratitude that I avail myself of this opportunity to express my thanks to God for Mary Baker Eddy and for Christian Science.

In 1893 I became interested in Science through the healing of a member of my family of appendicitis. This healing made a great impression on me and I began reading the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. At that time there were twelve of us meeting in the different homes to read the Lessons. I am happy to have had a part in the establishment of Christian Science in this field, and to have had the privilege of hearing our dear Leader speak from the balcony at Pleasant View in 1903.

I can never be grateful enough for the understanding I have gained through the study of the Lesson-Sermons; for The Mother Church and all its activities and publications; for serving in a branch church; for the Reading Rooms, where the heavy-laden can find peace and health; for class instruction; and for the security of a church home. I am very grateful for the healings I have experienced during these years, which include those of broken ribs, a broken wrist, shingles, colds, and sick headaches.
