Teaching the Tiny Tots

After thoroughly studying and pondering Mary Baker Eddy's definition of "children," as given on page 582 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the passage on page 310 which reads, "There is neither growth, maturity, nor decay in Soul," a certain teacher of the tiny tots from two to five years of age in a Christian Science Sunday School found real joy in her work. She realized that both teacher and children, regardless of age, reflect in their real being the same unlimited intelligence. By depending upon God for divine inspiration and guidance, this teacher was able to present in an interesting way, with no sense of dullness or monotony, the lesson which Mrs. Eddy says in the Manual of The Mother Church should be taught the younger children.

The reason for their coming to Sunday school, namely, to learn about God, was constantly kept before the children's thought. The teacher's constant endeavor was to teach them how to be Christian Scientists.

Proportionately as she was conscious of the omnipresence of intelligence, this teacher was able to help the pupils in her class gain a better ability to memorize. As a result, these youngest ones loved to recite the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Beatitudes.
