I realize that the time has come...

I realize that the time has come for me again publicly to acknowledge my gratitude for the revelation of the greatness and goodness of God which has come to me through the study of Christian Science. In 1927 my testimony was published in the July issue of The Christian Science Journal, and the healings mentioned therein have been permanent.

I treasure Christian Science as the greatest blessing in my human experience, and this blessing has been greatly increased by class instruction. Science has helped me to live a better life and to see more clearly man as God has made him. In the bringing up of two children it has been of inestimable value. Through the realization of the present perfection and completeness of God's creation, the only creation, we have had healings of sickness in the family, harmonious readjustments in the home, and protection from accidents; and financial difficulties have been overcome. Some of these healings have come through my own understanding, others by the work of Christian Science practitioners.

One morning our elder boy manifested the symptoms of appendicitis. I worked for him to the best of my understanding, but fear seemed to hold me, so I telephoned a practitioner for treatment. The next morning the boy awoke well. Before he went out to play, I told him we should not give error any reality by speaking of it to others. He must, however, have mentioned the previous day's experience to a friend's mother, who, meaning to be kind, gave him a bottle of patent medicine, which she said was good for that illness. I asked my son if we would be honoring God if we listened to that error after He had shown us the perfect man, who needed no medicine. I told the boy I was leaving all in God's care, and he was to decide for himself which he would trust—God, who is all intelligence, or the medicine, which had no intelligence. I am grateful that the medicine was never taken and that the healing has been permanent.
