Truth Is Simple

A sparrow  on the housetop,
A lily in the field,
A merchant seeking goodly pearls,
A treasure long concealed,
Such were the symbols Jesus used
For those he taught and healed.

His pulpit was the wayside walk;
In nature's church he trod.
To his pure thought the flowers became
The hieroglyphs of God.

Oh may we follow where he led
Across the fields of light,
And find in every simple thing
A spiritual delight.
