While I was reading Science and Health...

While I was reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, some years ago, I found myself healed of what the doctor had called anemia. I had been very weak and unable to attend to my daily affairs. The doctor expressed astonishment when I met him and he saw me looking quite well. There never has been a return of the trouble. Since then I have never been without this textbook. It has given me an answer to the riddle of the universe for which I had been seeking in many philosophies and religions.

Later, when in a foreign country, I met an American whose view of God and man awakened me to deeper study of Christian Science. With this forward step the whole basis of my thinking gradually changed from a material to a spiritual one. "The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind," Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 162). Joy took on a new meaning and harmony in family relations replaced controversy and combat. As a result, a member of the family became a student of Christian Science and was healed of the liquor habit and of a violent temper.

Serving in a branch church has been a great benefit to me in learning to show love to neighbor and friend. I give unceasing thanks for having had the priceless privilege of class instruction and for the precious inspiration of the association meetings.
