Because I have learned that problems promote our growth. I feel grateful indeed that when I reached my extremity as a young woman I found the wonderful healing truth presented in Christian Science. I was immediately healed of much fear and realized that to worry is indeed to break the First Commandment.

When in deep humility, willing to give up everything I held dear just to know more about God. I prayed to be shown the way the answer came immediately. Although I did not recognize it then as an angel voice. I was led to telephone a friend whom I knew to be a Christian Scientist, and whose life attested that she relied on her religion for help. I knew absolutely nothing about the teachings of Christian Science at the time. Shortly afterwards I found myself with a borrowed copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which I read day and night. Truly God had answered my sincere longing. I was instantaneously healed of the desire for materia medica, understanding to a degree that since God is All-in-all we cannot possibly have anything more.

Each day brings healings as I understand more fully my at-one-ment with God. To have learned anew that "God is no respecter of persons" gives me unspeakable joy. Each day more of the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience—all-power, all-presence, all-wisdom—of God is unfolded. Our first proof of physical healing was the overcoming of fever, which was instantly dispelled through the reading of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468).

In one of our hymns there are these words: "Lo, He sent His Word and healed them." A short time after I began the study of Christian Science I was attending the Sunday service on Easter morning. The Scriptural reading from the desk was the account of the woman whom Satan had bound for eighteen years, but was healed when Jesus spoke the word. Suddenly a great light shone in my consciousness. I fell uplifted by the realization that the very same power was here to heal and bless me now. I was instantaneously healed of an internal condition that had been treated in vain by physicians. Not only have I had no recurrence of the trouble, but my gratitude is unbounded, for every false law which had been laid down, and which I had accepted as true, was swept away.

Our child began attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and has been healed of many erroneous conditions. He has not had any medical help since we began our study. As a result of our complete reliance upon Principle to guide and direct, and our realization that man expresses divine intelligence, the boy is excelling in school. Among our many healings have been those of a broken collarbone, measles, chicken pox, burns, influenza, lack of supply, and in harmony of many kinds. We have also been protected in accidents.

To be a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church and to have had class instruction I count among my greatest blessings.

This testimony is given with the sincere prayer that it may encourage some who are tempted to give up when the way seems too hard or the period of waiting too long. We can know that if we listen we shall hear the voice behind us saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it."—
