The article which appeared in your recent issue under the caption "Christian Science" is welcomed by Christian Scientists as providing an opportunity to correct certain misunderstandings in your mind and that of the general public.

The writer of the article borrowed most of his information from secondhand, unauthentic sources, which have frequently been proved unreliable. He attempts to place Phineas P. Quimby, a mesmeric healer, in the position that rightfully belongs to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science Such an attempt was made over forty years ago in America by various disloyal students of Christian Science, who even used Quimby's son to assist them after Quimby himself had passed away. The attempt failed, and Mrs. Eddy's right to her title was established b the American courts of those days. The records are available for those who wish to probe the matter further. Three well-authenticated and soundly based biographies of Mrs. Eddy may be consulted at most of the public libraries throughout the civilized world.
