Love That Heals and Unites

Today most families have one or more of its loved members serving in the forces fighting for freedom. Many of these are sailing the oceans, others are setting up their camps in new lands in the midst of strange and perhaps intriguing customs and people. In whatever corner of the world these young men or women are serving, far from home and friends, they may be meeting, perhaps for the first time, subtle forms of materialism and sensuality.

How can we at home aid the steady progress of our loved ones? How can their parents and relatives help to nullify the beliefs of evil, frustrate its deceptive fascination, and enable those they love to bring out of this conflict lives and ideals purified and enriched by their vast experiences?

Surely it is a case of first putting out own mental house in order by gaining a purer concept of God and man It is not enough that those at home continually think of and pray for the safe and speedy return of those they hold dear. Their own affections need to be cleansed of that material, possessive sense which does not bless. What says Paul: "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." A clear understanding of divine Love and of its encompassing allness, at all times surrounding and providing its own ideas with abundance of good, will do more to help in the true guidance and ample protection of loved ones than any human sense of affection can possibly do.
