That Christian Science brings...
That Christian Science brings continuous unfoldment to the earnest student has been proved time and again. I wish to share an experience I had recently. I had been suffering from a painful physical disorder which caused me to have sudden dizzy spells followed by severe biliousness. I received temporary relief, but in a few days the trouble would return in all its former severity. At the end of four months I had lost a good deal of weight and felt very miserable, although a practitioner was faithfully helping me.
One day, as one of the attacks started, I prayed, "Father, show me what is keeping me from my healing," and immediately the angel message came, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." The attack ceased, for I saw if God was pleased with me it was because He saw me as perfect now. But that also was only temporary relief. I had to go further. Sometime later I was told a simple story which showed me that God is All. I had known this and declared it for many years; but it was as though a veil had suddenly been drawn aside, making clear the Bible statement, "I am God, and there is none else." It was revealed to me that God is All, and that man is included in that allness. With this new light I took my Concordance to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and looked up all the references to God as "All" and "All-in-all," and to "allness." Each one took on fresh meaning that I had not seen before. The attacks grew less, for I met each one fearlessly with this new-found truth. I have gained in weight, and have a freedom I have never felt before. I am no longer afraid, for I see how "perfect love casteth out fear."
I am grateful to God for the physical healing, but my greatest gratitude is for the increased light which has been cast on infinite Truth. My heart goes out in gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her courage, purity, and unselfed love for mankind. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for having served four years as librarian in a Christian Science Reading Room; and for the privilege of working in the Sunday school. My prayer is that this testimony may help others as I have been helped.—(Mrs.) Elizabeth C. Miln, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
