Being very desirous of expressing...
Being very desirous of expressing my gratitude to God for all the blessings Christian Science has brought to me, I should like to add my testimony. The testimonies in the Sentinel have lifted me many times from doubt and depression into hope and joy. The understanding that "with God all things are possible" has given me the faith to press on.
I have had many healings in Christian Science and should like to relate one of my experiences when a young student of this religion. I had been attending services in a Christian Science church, and also reading our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, occasionally. I knew it was the truth and the religion I wanted, but did not think at that time that I could use it in my daily life. After preparing my three-months-old baby for a bath, I had placed him on a kitchen table, and he fell from it. I became dreadfully frightened and picked him up, wrapping him in a blanket. As I did so I noticed that his legs were discolored, and in a moment he became limp.
I asked my sister, who was interested in Christian Science, to call a doctor. By this time the condition of the child had grown worse, and in my agony I paced the floor, at one moment declaring the allness of God, and in the next pleading with God, as a child would with its parent, to save this child who was so dear to me. My sister, seeing my state of thought, requested that I leave her with the child. She told me that she had called a doctor as I had requested, but had first called a Christian Science practitioner. In about twenty minutes the doctor arrived and upon examination found the discoloration had left and the child could move his legs naturally. The doctor said he was perfectly well. He added that the baby would not retain his food for several days but to feed him as usual. I have always been grateful for this wonderful healing. The child retained his food and was well from that hour on. He has grown to manhood, and is serving his country and the cause of freedom in the United States Army Air Corps.
