It is with a deep sense of gratitude...

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science that this testimony is written. Christian Science was first mentioned to my family by an aunt, who told of some wonderful healings. After further inquiry, it was found that the nearest town where Science meetings were held was about ten miles away, but my father was impelled to make the trip, which resulted in many blessings. The textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was lent to us, and when we were reading it for the first time we found its message to be as oil poured on troubled waters.

Christian Science has truly been like a good Samaritan to me. Dissatisfied with my concept of life, but desiring something higher, I was receptive to this gentle ministration. It poured in the oil and wine of Truth and Love and healed the wounds of false notions, and sent me on my way rejoicing in spiritual regeneration.

Many times the way has been dark. Faults of character have been overcome through study of passages from the Bible and Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings. Some years ago I had difficulty in walking, because of pain at the end of the spine. The practitioner uncovered the error of thought as a false sense of responsibility. A passage from Scripture came to me as a deliverer: "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, ... casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." In a short time I was again normally active.
