I took up the study of Christian Science after my son was healed of kidney and bladder trouble just by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I should also like to mention a recent healing I had while entertaining some friends at my home. While I was preparing for lunch, a kettle filled with two pounds of boiling lard slipped off the stove, and half the lard spilled over my legs and into my slippers. Two of my friends, who were Christian Scientists, were in the kitchen at the time. The pain was intense. I declared the truth immediately, as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I asked my friends also to hold to the truth for me, which they did while I changed my clothes. In a few minutes the pain had all gone and I was free.

I entertained my friends all the afternoon, and that night there was not a trace of the accident, with the exception of a slight red mark on my instep.
