Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Traverse City, Michigan (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Traverse City, dedicated its church edifice at two services on Sunday, January 3, 1943, in the new church building. In addition to the regular services, a short history of the church was read.

In 1889 a small group of Christian Scientists gathered in Traverse City to hold services regularly for the study of Christian Science. At this meeting a society was organized. Meetings were held in private homes until 1893. After this, services were held in the City Opera House building, Montague Hall, and the Masonic Building.

When the Ebner Building was completed in 1914, part of the second floor was finished for the use of the church and Reading Room. Here services were held until January 1, 1942.
