Paths of Judgment

In the teachings of Christian Science, the differentiation between judgment and accusation is made very clear. As men progress in the understanding of Truth, their line of demarcation between right and wrong must necessarily become more clearly defined; their standard of right ascends; they find themselves less tolerant of evil and more insistent upon good. They learn what the writer of the Proverbs meant when he wrote of God, "He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints." Therefrom proceeds the next practical step: "Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."

In spiritual rectitude the paths of judgment are clearly defined, and as problems present themselves which require decision and often positive action, we learn how essential it is not to wander from the way laid down for us in the Bible and Christian Science. We learn to wait on God.

In the paths of judgment it is our task to see that error can be neither encouraged nor submitted to, and at the same time to remember that it is not person or power. It must not be ignored; neither must it be exaggerated or ballooned. Listening to, collecting, and reporting malicious rumors; delivering personal attacks, whether directly or indirectly, are always to be eschewed. These are neither in the interests of Truth nor compatible with Christian living.
