God Charts Our Nation's Course
A representative of one of the United Nations, recently in America, voiced the concern of his government as to whether the United States will accept its share of responsibility in the postwar period for establishing and safeguarding an enduring world peace. The question is receiving serious consideration by many in this country and in the councils of our allies.
This situation gives the spiritual thinker an opportunity effectively to utilize the truth seen centuries ago, and picturesquely proclaimed by Isaiah, "Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing."
In other words, God and His purposes, forces, and laws are far greater than one nation or many nations. Nations must, like the individuals who compose them, become subordinate to the purpose and will of Almighty God. Nations, because they may be great in numbers, in material possessions, or material power, weigh not at all in the balances of God.
