My desire in writing this testimony...
My desire in writing this testimony to the healing power and efficacy of Christian Science in healing all conditions is especially to help mothers whose sons and daughters are serving their country today. Several years ago one of our boys left home in the morning to attend the opening classes of a college fall term and failed to return. The situation was so unusual that we at first did not know what was the right step to take. We wired a faithful practitioner for help, and every day we kept this worker informed. There seemed to be no progress, and the suspense was hard to bear. Our beloved Leader, speaking of her search for Truth, says in Science and Health (p. 109): "The search was sweet, calm, and buoyant with hope, not selfish nor depressing. I knew the Principle of all harmonious Mind-action to be God and that cures were produced in primitive Christian healing by holy, uplifting faith; but I must know the Science of this healing, and I won my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration." These gave me courage.
I held especially to the last three words of this quotation. I knew I had the revelation at hand, for I have all of our Leader's writings in the home; I had the power to think or reason; then I must have the demonstration if I used the truth consistently. The temptations came in from all sides to wonder where our dear boy could be, but we had to hold the more to the voice of Truth. We took every human step we could think of to help solve the problem. About two weeks later the postman brought a special delivery air mail letter in the boy's own handwriting. He was serving in another country, in its armed forces. (We were not then at war.) We went to him and found him unharmed and in fine condition.
Today he is serving in our nation's armed forces, a very happy boy. We are grateful for the wonderful lessons we learned from this experience, and we can say with truth, "Is any thing too hard for the Lord?"
