Christian Science Committee on Publication for Natal, South Africa, Reports

Librarians of military and civil hospitals have informed us that copies of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which were donated, have been in constant use. Literature distribution committees are taxed to capacity to meet the demands for our periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor. There is better attendance at our church services, and the consecration of members is bearing fruit in more inspiring testimony meetings. And so, because of the great overturning in the world, increasing numbers are finding that the availability of God's beneficent power is at hand, wherever they may be, through the healing Christ, Truth, as revealed in Christian Science.

In this area, the question of catering to the spiritual welfare of the troops was one which was given early prayerful consideration, for it was soon seen that large numbers of men and women in the Army and Navy would be using this port of call for services overseas. Following meetings of church executives to which the Committee was invited, the way opened for a suitable Rest Room to be established in Durban for His Majesty's and Allied Forces. The work was begun and shared by the three branch churches in this city on September 28, 1941.

Messages of gratitude continue to come in from those who have derived comfort and peace in this quiet Rest Room, where free literature and stationery are available and letters can be written in an atmosphere conducive to scientific thinking. Wrote one lad: "I am still reading your little books, and ...I shall persevere until He shows me the way....I shall always thank God for the day He directed me to the Christian Science Rest Room."
