Topic: Men in the Service

[Col. Clayton E. Wheat, as quoted in the Boston (Massachusetts) Herald]

Today as one united people we are enlisted in a high and worthy cause. It is the cause of the Christian way of life for men and nations as contrasted with the pagan way. ... We are gearing in our life with the struggle for those eternal verities which are dearer than life itself, honor, justice, liberty, and freedom, things which in their final analysis are inseparable from any thought of God as revealed by Christ. When we give ourselves unreservedly to this cause, then are we strong in the power of God's might.

[A Captain of the Merchant Navy, in the Natal Mercury, Durban, Natal, South Africa]
