Overflowing gratitude to God...

Overflowing gratitude to God for the redeeming power of Truth as revealed by Christian Science prompts this testimony. I turned to Christian Science for comfort when my world seemed to have come to an end. I had failed in my senior year at college, and felt completely overwhelmed with the disgrace and humiliation of it. The future seemed utterly dark and I thought I could never again face my friends. Two members of my family were Christian Scientists, and through their loving help this situation was completely reversed. I went to summer school, made the best grades of all my school years, and returned to college to graduate at the end of the fall quarter. This being within the calendar year, I was still counted as a member of my class.

The most important result of this experience was what I glimpsed of God—that He is good, and that He is Mind, reflected fully and impartially by all His children. This glimpse of reality was as a light turned on in the darkness. The light of understanding has continued to unfold, dispelling unhappiness and "defeatism."

As a young girl I had periods of mental depression and violent paroxysms of crying. But these have entirely disappeared, and the balm of God's love has come more into my experience through my study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Abiding peace and happiness I never thought possible have taken the place of these shadows.
