I welcome this opportunity to...

I welcome this opportunity to express my deep gratitude for the many healings and blessings that I have experienced during the past few years through my study and application of the truths of Christian Science. The following demonstration is one for which I am most grateful.

For over two years I had been working and praying to overcome a false mental picture which seemed to have taken possession of my thinking, and which was trying to erase all the truths I had learned and proved throughout the years since I had been studying Christian Science. The erroneous thoughts that presented themselves were self-depreciation, self-condemnation, and self-pity, as well as a sense of failure in my work, and most of all, the fear of losing a position which I these material arguments, with their accompanying doubts and fears, tried to shake my faith in God's power to heal. But whenever the temptation to resort to some other means of help presented itself, there was always some statement from the writings of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, or some passage from the Bible, which held me to truth and renewed my trust in God. One day when I seemed to have reached the limit of my mental endurance, the statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," came forcibly to me. My resolve became stronger to trust in God's promises, and to try once more to put my problem in the hands of divine Love. With as much confidence as I could command, and with a deeper sense of resignation to God's will than I had ever felt before, I clung to the statement on page 495 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God."

This renewed yielding to divine Love was first applied to the problem of re-establishing my home, which for over two years I had not felt able to maintain. I had worked on this steadily, but always with much doubt as to what step should be taken. With fresh determination to trust implicitly to God's guidance, and with the resolve to subordinate my own desires and preferences, I began to take mental inventory of my living conditions. As I did this each day, many of the features which had seemed undesirable and unattractive, presented themselves in more acceptable light. I began to be grateful for many things, and I soon found fresh interest and happy activity in setting up my small household. The close relationship which Mrs. Eddy gives throughout her writings to the words "home" and "heaven" began to assume new significance for me. I also realized as never before the meaning of Christ Jesus' words, "The kingdom of God is within you." As I continued to count my blessings, I began to experience the long-promised assurance of God's love and care.
