Reflection

Man possesses and expresses all the qualities and attributes of God by reflection, somewhat as the sunbeam possesses and expresses the qualities and attributes of the sun. Not as a separate entity does the sunbeam act and function, but solely as an emanation of the sun. Its warmth, light, individuality, being, action, presence, and power are the sun manifesting itself, not the sunbeam being a little sunbeam, running away and off by itself to express warmth, light, individuality, action, presence, and power.

So does our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, understandingly and wisely say in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 301): "Few persons comprehend what Christian Science means by the word reflection. To himself, mortal and material man seems to be substance, but his sense of substance involves error and therefore is material, temporal. On the other hand, the immortal, spiritual man is really substantial, and reflects the eternal substance, or Spirit, which mortals hope for. He reflects the divine, which constitutes the only real and eternal entity."
