It is with joy that I add my testimony...

It is with joy that I add my testimony to the thousands already given. Christian Science found me at a time when the world looked very dark: I was sick, unhappy, and bowed with responsibility. I turned as a last resort to the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and was instantaneously healed of sickness. With this healing came an illumined sense of peace, joy, and happiness. I have since been privileged to express my gratitude in active service in various offices provided under the Church Manual by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

There have been many testing times, but each has proved to be a blessing, helping me to gain a truer understanding of God and to rely more firmly on Him. In the words of our Leader in our textbook (p. 233), "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power." The Christian Science Hymnal has been a great source of joy to me; with its universal appeal it makes one realize the love all nations have for harmony and beauty, and all can join together in our hymns of joy and thanksgiving.

I am especially grateful to a teacher, and to loving friends and practitioners, who have made the way brighter by their help and example, and to The Christian Science Board of Directors in Boston, who so faithfully and inspirationally carry on the work designated in the Manual. Jesus' words, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; ... for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light," are proved true in Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Grace Oxley McCarley, Longview, Texas.
