It is with a grateful heart that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science.

My first healing through this Science came about twelve years ago. It was the healing of an internal growth, which was becoming larger and more painful each day. After I had followed the advice of the family physician for several months, with no relief, it was decided to call in a specialist, who advised an immediate operation. Before I left for the hospital that night a member of my family who had become a student of Christian Science gave me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, saying that if I would read it she knew it would help me.

Because the next day was Christmas the operation was postponed until the following day. At the hospital that night and all the next day, whenever the opportunity presented itself, I found myself turning to the chapter entitled "Prayer." I do not recall whether I read further into the book, but I do know that I read that particular chapter over and over, filled with hope and encouragement by its comforting message.
