"At evening time it shall be light"
Christ Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; ... for every one that asketh receiveth." How marvelous is the completeness of God, good; how great the joy of those who rely on Him and capture heaven, harmony, in thought! Comfort and happiness come to the heart that is truly loving, for Love alone gives pure joy. A joyous heart is indeed the gift of God. Born of Spirit, true joy is permanent and complete.
Right asking is the scientific prayer which knows Spirit's omnipotence and Love's mercy, and rejoices in the wealth of Mind here and now. We do not have to get out of, or into, any place to find immortal bliss. Love provides our heaven in pure consciousness, independent of person, place, or material circumstance. This is the heaven of rest from sorrow, sin, and want, from pain and fear. "Every one that asketh receiveth" divine mercy. Peaceful, pure desire brings us the wine of Life in Science as the substance of Christ's love appears, the transforming power of Truth, showing man divinely satisfied. Only good faces us as we steadfastly face God, and in this transparency of reflection we see hope justified and love rewarded.
It is surely one of the greatest things in life to realize in Science that one is not beholden to others, but, in fact, is dependent only on Spirit, God, and is as free as he is holy. Mary Baker Eddy, in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 39), answers the question, "Can you take care of yourself?" in the words, "God giveth to every one this puissance; and I have faith in His promise, 'Lo, I am with you alway'—all the way." Christian Science lifts the burden of human planning which loads men with joylessness and fear. "All the way," good supports the right idea, simply because we are the children of divinity. Nothing is required of us that we cannot ask, and receive, of God.
