It is my privilege and pleasure...

It is my privilege and pleasure to express sincere gratitude to God for the many healings and blessings I have received through the operation of Christian Science, also to give grateful acknowledgment to the author of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the Founder of the Christian Science church and of our periodicals, Mary Baker Eddy. It was the desire for a more practical religion, a better understanding of "our Father which art in heaven," that led me to become a student of the Christian Science Quarterly in 1921. The following benefits have been received: lost articles restored; guidance and many instances of protection; healings of tonsillitis, influenza, severe burns, contusions, and effects of falls.

In April, 1937, my car was struck by an automobile coming on the wrong side of the road at a cross street, and was dashed into a tree. My injuries were major ones. Many bones were broken, nine ribs were injured, one ear was partly severed, there were punctures in the back of the skull, bones were broken in the shoulders, and there was a deep cut in one shoulder. I was delivered to a hospital by ambulance. Awakening on arrival, I asked for a Christian Science practitioner whose name I gave. I affirmed that God is my Life and my only Physician.

The practitioner came and worked faithfully. I also clung faithfully, tenaciously, to Truth. When morning came, the cut in my shoulder had closed and no mark was left. I rejoiced silently on learning of this healing, and knew that other conditions would be cared for likewise. My ear, too, was normally adjusted by morning. This was a case of mental surgery, for at my request I received no surgical nor medical attention. Intense suffering was finally overcome, and all torsal bones, broken and crushed, were eventually restored to normal. My left knee had also been broken. The patella has grown together normally, and there is no stiffness of the joint.
