I have been helped so greatly by testimonies given in the Sentinel that I should like to express the deep gratitude I feel for Christian Science. It has given me a definite purpose in life. Divine Love most beautifully and gently guided and prepared me to accept this wonderful revelation, and I feel, with the Psalmist, that "he brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."
Through the following statement (Pulpit and Press by Mrs. Eddy, p. 2), "The real house in which 'we live, and move, and have our being' is Spirit, God, the eternal harmony of infinite Soul," I experienced my first physical healing, of a difficulty from which I had suffered since childhood. I had a very sore throat, and started to declare, "I live, move, and have my being in the eternal harmony of infinite Mind, into which can enter nothing 'that defileth . . . or maketh a lie.' " I walked down the street repeating this, when suddenly something clicked in my throat. The condition had completely disappeared. This was a wonderful experience to me, for though I had heard many testimonies of the healing power of Christian Science, I had not truly appreciated its greatness.
I am also deeply grateful to have been led to a practitioner in London, England, who, for nearly a year, exemplified to me the Christianity of this Science. Not only was I spiritually uplifted by his example, but through his help I was able to undertake work I had never thought possible, and was gently guided when everything seemed very difficult. Through his help I learned to demonstrate the potency of spiritual law, and was prepared to continue my study of Science practically alone here.
