A few weeks after first hearing of Christian Science I became ill with a severe form of blood poisoning. I rapidly grew worse until, on the evening of the second day, I was desperately ill. I asked my husband to telephone to a practitioner and ask if she would treat me. I shall never forget the relief and gratitude I felt when the answer came back that she would do so at once.

I remember little of that night except the discomforts of a high fever. I must soon have fallen asleep, for in the morning I awakened feeling entirely well. Only the swelling remained, and this disappeared in a few hours.

I have always felt particularly grateful for this experience, because it completely healed my great fear of this complaint, and ended many years of recurrent attacks, once again proving the statement made by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in Science and Health (p. 368), "When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone." It seemed miraculous to me, for until then I had not tested the healing power of Christian Science. I could never again doubt the perfection and infallibility of healing by spiritual means.
