Sunlight

[Written Especially for Children]

IT was a shining day in the little town where Allegra lived. As she ran and played inside the white picket fence which circled her yard, she wondered if the sunlight had ever been so golden before.

Suddenly she thought: "I will catch some of this beautiful sunshine and keep it for myself. I will put some in a box and shut the lid down."

So she ran into the house and soon came back with a large cardboard box, which she opened and put on the ground. Sunlight filled it instantly; then quickly she popped the lid on the box and took it back into the house. Later she opened it to look at her sunlight, and what do you suppose she found? Just an empty box!
