I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. In Jeremiah we find these words: "O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." I know this to be true; I have learned that the real man is governed by divine Mind and nothing else.

A little more than six years ago, it became necessary for me to read from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the benefit of my wife, who was then suffering from illness, and could not read for herself.

I myself knew nothing of Christian Science, but while reading from Science and Health to her, with no understanding on my part, the tobacco habit left me, and also during this time a very serious railroad accident was prevented, for which I should have been held responsible. I did not understand at the time, but I now know that divine law, or Christian Science, was protecting me.
