Expressing True Graciousness

When we understand the ever-presence of God, and learn that man is God's infinite reflection, how easy it is to see that true graciousness is divinely natural! When in the wilderness Moses hesitated to lead the people forward, God spoke unto him "face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend," and Moses said, "Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight." God then gave him this loving assurance: "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest."

Christian Science reveals God as Spirit, Mind, Life, Truth, and Love. Since God is infinite Spirit, He is the only presence and power, the creator of the universe, including man. The true man, the perfect child of a perfect Father-Mother God, possesses by reflection all the righteous, intelligent, and lovely qualities of divine Mind. When we recognize God's spiritual, eternal nature, and see our real selfhood, unrestricted by mortal sense, we are acknowledging the ever-presence of God. As we discern and accept the truth of being, we find limiting concepts fading out of our consciousness, and hence out of our human experience.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 12), "In Christian Science, the law of Love rejoices the heart; and Love is Life and Truth." In the same paragraph she adds, "We should measure our love for God by our love for man; and our sense of Science will be measured by our obedience to God,—fulfilling the law of Love, doing good to all; imparting, so far as we reflect them, Truth, Life, and Love to all within the radius of our atmosphere of thought."
