The Value of True Recognition

[Original article in German]

THE word "recognition" has a deep meaning to the Christian Scientist when he considers it in the light of Truth. Since there is only one God, one Mind, scientifically speaking it is only the one God and His idea that can be perceived and recognized. And this is true, notwithstanding the attempt of personal sense to gain recognition through the delusive claim that there are minds many.

In Matthew, chapter three, we read that Jesus, after his baptism, heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." This is the highest recognition of Godlikeness that has ever come to one who walked this earth, and it reached Jesus because of his spirituality.

In "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 206) Mary Baker Eddy says regarding this experience, "Above the waves of Jordan, dashing against the receding shore, is heard the Father and Mother's welcome, saying forever to the baptized of Spirit: 'This is my beloved Son.'" Who does not long to be baptized with this baptism and to receive the divine approbation?
